On the BBS I call myself Divinyls Fan, because I love the Divinyls. They are an Australian 80's rock band. The lead singer, Chrissy Amphlet was notorious for her stage antics (once youknow into a jar on stage, other stunts). Many think ew and how awful, but mostly because she was a woman rocker, the male rock bands did all of that and never got 'spat on' for it. The Divinyls recently got inducted into the ARIA hall of fame, along with Rose Tattoo, Cold Chisel and IceHouse. If you haven't heard of them, you would have heard their song "I Touch Myself", and also the very old 80's song "Science Fiction", she also did a cover of "Wild Thing" for the movie "Yahoo Serious, Young Einstein".
Anyway, about me. I'm Australian in Australia, as if you didn't realise that by now. My dad's side of the family are American from the Detroit area, stemming back to Alice, Texas. One of my great grandfathers was a hunter on the King Ranch in Texas and was Native American, my dad is not sure if he was Choctaw or Cherokee. My grandfather was a foreman in the gear and transmission department (Disneyland) of the Detroit Ford Motor Company in the 60's.
Really about me now. I mostly grew up in Western Australia, I've spent most of my adult life in Newcastle, about 2 hours up from Sydney, it's a big country town, blue collar, coal mining, rich in arts and music, which is why I went there, to study Music Industry Business at the technical college there, the only one in Australia to offer that. 8 years all up, and their accent and ways rubbed off on me something chronic. The accent is very Occre, like Steve Irwin, or Kath and Kim (if you've heard of them). I'm back in Western Australia now, studying events management and being close to my family. In another year I'll have finished my studies and be ready to take a professional job as a concert, festival, or corporate conference co-ordinator/manager, I'd prefer concerts and festivals (perks!). My 13 year old daughter is an aspiring actress and goes to a specialised performing arts high school, which she auditioned for, she says she wants to be like Nicole Kidman and I have no doubt she will (the totally natural dramatics I've enjoyed and endured from her since 2yr old).
I have mainly stories on the Sims2 exchange, all based around the Australian colonial times (Victorian). You'll find a lot of traditional Aussie jargon in them and references to some true Australian history including the convict transportation and the early explorers/pioneers. I've had a lot of comments on the photography, which is how I got invited to this site. I've just made my first movie, which is on my simpage (Divinyls Fan).
I was invited to give tips on photography, but I don't know if I'll be of any help, because most of the good shots I have in my stories were flukes. Sometimes I'll play around with the camera mode during a 'special moment' (for me) and think this or that might make an interesting or arty kind of shot, and half of them do and half of them don't. The movie I made showcases some of the best one's I've taken.
The one tip I can give is about the night shots: If you click the camera again straight after the first click, you catch the flash of the first click and the picture comes out lighter and clearer. Sometimes you catch it too much, but after practice you get the timing right so it catches just the right amount of the flash. So you end up with 2 or 3 pictures of the same shot, but the 2nd and 3rd are the ones with better lighting and are the ones that you keep.
What I would like to know from someone here is where do I upload my movie for free to get linked to sims99? The places sims99 suggest have a fee and their Sims2Movies suggestion site has login problems, and I don't know if that's an upload site anyway. I suppose I don't mind paying but the one I checked out from sims99 links charges the whole contract time in one hit which I can't afford in one go like that.
sorry this post is so long. I promise I'll control myself next time.
