So you've finished making your video and need someone to host it? Here are a few different types of free hosts and my personal rating.
Putfile.com
Rating:3/5
The Jist: Upload images, audio, video, or flash. Max file is 25mb and has many different types of files.
Putfile is probably one of the easiest host to use. If you know how to upload images to photobucket you can easily upload your files. The only con is the file size limit of 25mb which may be fine for a small clip, but if you're trying to create a well-thought out movie will simply not do. They lay it all out for you on their frontpage and have a good help section.
Youtube.com
Rating: 4/5
The Jist: upload .mov, .avi, .mpg filetypes with a file limit of 100mb.
This is the best host I've ever used, the sign-up is easy and the uploading is super quick. The only problem is that the page your video is actually hosted on is extremely busy and seem cluttered, but it will do for the cost. A watermark is in the bottom corner, but that's no biggie usually. It seems a little intimidating to an inexperienced user, but once you understand it it is a breeze.
Any file host download site.
Rating: 1/5
The Jist: any generic site that lets you put a file there then people click on it and download it to somewhere on their computer. This is the most annoying and ineffective host. As soon as I see people host videos on sites like these were I have to take time and download the file then finally locate it and play it, I don't even bother. I'm lazy and most movie reviewers are, they want the video to be given to them and start playing almost immediately while its still downloading. So I would not use this except as a last resort, they usually have small hosting sizes so you usually have to pack the movies in .zips which delays the time from me being interested until I actually watch your film.
Well if you guys have any other ones post away!
